Section 189
In spite of what is written in Section 188
which may cause abortion, it shall not be considered as an offense under this Code if a health worker causes an abortion in the following cases:-
(a) abortion up to twelve weeks with the consent of a pregnant woman,
(b) In the opinion of a licensed physician that the pregnant woman's life may be endangered or her physical or mental health may be impaired or a disabled child may be born if the abortion is not performed with the consent of such woman,
(c) In case of abortion with the consent of a pregnant woman up to eighteen weeks' gestation by coercion or coercion,
(d) For causing an abortion with the consent of a woman who is infected with HIV or any other incurable disease of a similar nature. Explanation: For the purpose of this section, "healthcare worker" means a doctor or health worker licensed to perform abortion after meeting the prescribed qualifications.
